Mumbai — India’s lab-grown diamond jewellery market continues to gather momentum as Firefly Diamonds announces the opening of its 10th retail store, marking another milestone in the brand’s expansion journey. Built on a 60-year family legacy in the diamond business, the company now has a presence across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, serving a growing community of customers celebrating engagements, weddings and everyday milestones.
The announcement follows the recent opening of Firefly’s four-storey flagship store in Mumbai and comes as the brand sets its sights on expanding to 25 locations by the end of 2026. The growth reflects the increasing acceptance of lab-grown diamonds among Indian consumers, particularly those seeking contemporary design, customisation and new expressions of fine jewellery.
“For three generations, our family has been in the diamond business. What has changed is the customer,” said Aayush Bhansali, Co-founder of Firefly Diamonds. “Consumers want exceptional craftsmanship, meaningful design, and a smarter way to own diamonds. Firefly was built to meet that demand. Reaching 10 stores across India is an important milestone, but it’s only the beginning as we work towards making world-class diamond jewellery more accessible to a new generation of buyers.”
According to the company, each jewellery piece undergoes a 20-step production process spanning more than 100 hours, followed by a 100-step quality assurance process. Firefly states that only the top 2% of diamonds are selected for its collections, with every stone hand-set by skilled artisans.
Personalisation remains central to the brand’s offering. Through Firefly Studio, customers can explore more than 50,000 ring combinations across diamonds, settings and styles, while Firefly Reserve offers bespoke jewellery services that transform personal stories and heirloom inspirations into custom-designed pieces.
Firefly also operates an Old Gold Exchange programme, allowing customers to exchange existing gold jewellery for store credit towards new purchases. The company says its lab-grown diamonds are produced in India using renewable energy and are certified by internationally recognised gemological laboratories.
Earlier this year, Firefly Diamonds secured USD 3 million in funding led by WestBridge Capital, an investment expected to support the company’s retail expansion strategy. Alongside its company-owned stores, Firefly is also exploring franchise partnerships as it works towards its next phase of growth.
Beyond retail, the company has placed sustainability and skill development at the heart of its business model. Firefly plants a tree in the name of every customer purchase through a digital tracking programme that enables customers to monitor its environmental impact over time. Its founders have also established CADIndia, a non-profit initiative that provides accessible CAD training for aspiring jewellery designers and manufacturing professionals.
The brand’s portfolio includes collections such as All Ways You, featuring transformable jewellery designed for multiple occasions; Maxim, a contemporary men’s jewellery collection; and the Eden Collection, inspired by botanical forms and nature’s organic silhouettes.
Beyond the Headline
Store openings are often viewed as indicators of business growth, but Firefly Diamonds’ latest milestone also reflects a broader shift taking place within India’s jewellery industry. As the lab-grown diamond category matures, brands are moving beyond product education to invest in retail experiences, bespoke design services and long-term customer relationships.
Increasingly, success in the segment is being defined not only by accessibility or price, but by the ability to build trust through craftsmanship, transparency and brand identity. Investment in physical retail, personalised services and sustainability-led initiatives suggests that the next phase of growth will be driven by differentiation rather than disruption alone.
For the industry, Firefly’s expansion is another signal that the conversation around lab-grown diamonds is evolving—from an emerging category to an increasingly established part of India’s fine jewellery landscape.
