Lukson Highlights Solar-Powered CVD Facility in Surat

Lukson, the lab-grown diamond jewellery brand from the JK Star Group, has highlighted its solar-powered diamond manufacturing facility in Surat, Gujarat, as part of its approach to reducing the energy footprint associated with lab-grown diamond production.

The facility, operated by AVP Star, the Group’s lab-grown diamond manufacturing arm, houses 500 CVD reactors. According to the company, the facility is powered entirely by solar energy generated at the Group’s dedicated solar plant in Navsari, Gujarat.

The manufacturing process is vertically integrated, with Lukson stating that diamond growth and coring, slicing, laser processing, cutting, polishing and grading are handled in-house. The company says this allows it to maintain greater control over production and traceability from the growing stage through to the finished stone.

The development comes as questions around the energy consumption of lab-grown diamond production become increasingly relevant to the sector. While lab-grown diamonds are often positioned as a sustainability-led alternative, their production still requires significant energy. Lukson’s model places the source of that energy at the centre of its manufacturing proposition.

Vedant Lukhi, Co-Founder of Lukson, said the company’s decision to power the facility through solar energy was intended to make its sustainability claims more measurable at the manufacturing level.

Lukson was launched in January 2025 by Anand Lukhi and Vedant Lukhi as the JK Star Group’s first direct-to-consumer venture. The brand offers lab-grown diamond jewellery in 9KT, 14KT and 18KT gold and currently operates across 10 Indian cities, alongside online and marketplace channels.

The company has also stated that the wider JK Star Group has planted more than one lakh trees across Gujarat as part of its environmental initiatives. These claims, however, relate to the Group’s broader sustainability programme rather than the solar-powered manufacturing facility itself.
